Brooklyn Doughboys
Red Hook Doughboy - due to vandalism years ago the monument was moved alongside the
Red Hook neighborhood VFW. The statue now rests behind a chain link fence - I had to
shoot through the fence links in order to get this picture. Located 321 Van Brunt Ave.
Dedicated 1921. Sculptor - Augustus Lukeman.
Prospect Park Memorial - Angel of Death. Dedicated in 1921. Sculptor Augustus Lukeman
(1872-1935). The monument is flanked by several bronze tablets which contain the names of the
2,800 service men from the borough who served in the Great War.
Closeup of the Doughboy and the Angel of Death - I was not aware of the sunbeam coming out
of the sky when I took this photo but it really makes the shot.
14th Regiment Armory Doughboy - the 14th served as part of the 27th and 42nd Divisions
during WW1. Located just west of Prospect Park on 8th Avenue between 14th and 15th streets
in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn. Dedicated 1923. Sculptor - Anton Schaaf.
