More Guns of the Great War

German 7.7cm Feldkanone 96
located in downtown Scotch Plains
NJ at the intersection of Park Ave
and Front Street. According to the
Scotch Plains website the artillery
piece was presented to the town
because of their efforts in selling
war bonds. The 96 sits on a traffic
island and remains in good
condition.
This appears to be a rare artillery
piece. Its an Italian 75mm Cannone
da 75/27 mod.06. On the barrel is
enscribed Gio Ensaldo 1916 and it is
very clean, at least when I
photographed it in 2004. Gun has
been modernized with what appears
to be WW2 era German wheels. Its
possible this gun was taken by the
Germans in WW2, upgraded and
then later captured by the allies. It
sits in a roadside park along Ridge
Road in Kearny NJ. A French
pre-WW2 anti-tank gun is also
located in the park.
I believe this is a German 15cm
SFH13 artillery piece. Its located on a
traffic island on an intersection
along Front Street in Red Bank NJ.
Its in very good condition, I looked
for a date on it but its probably been
covered over by a repaint.
German 25cm mortar - Cranston
Rhode Island. I forgot the street
name this small roadside
memorial is located on however
its right off a main road in town
and there is a railroad trestle
bridge 30 yards to the right of the
site.
German 17cm mortar
located on the grounds
of the Diamond Hill Zen
Monestary on Diamond
Hill Road in Cumberland
Rhode Island.
One of three German 25cm mortars
that sits at the Maryland War
Memorial Plaza on Fayette Street
in Baltimore MD. The building is
the location of the US chapter of
the Western Front Association (I
didnt know that til I walked inside
looking for a bathroom !). Inside
there is a small but great
collection of WW1 items such
helmets, uniforms and a german
pair of artillery spotter binoculars
taken from the heights of
Montfaucon.
One of two identical
German 15cm SFH13 LG
artillery pieces also
located on the grounds
of the Maryland War
Memorial Plaza.
German 7.7cm Feldkanone
96 n.A. located right outside
the downtown area of
Cornwall NY. There is also a
Civil War monument and
cannon located in the park.
Plaque says it was captured
at Soissons in Sept 1918
and presented to the town
in 1920 by a French Officer.
The artillery piece looks
clean but the shield in
particular is rusting very
badly from having sit
outside for decades.
French 155mm 1918 dated Howitzer.
Apparently it was upgraded with more
modern wheels after the war. Located since
1935 along Midland Ave in Garfield NJ in
Dahnerts Park. Gun is rusting very badly.
German 10.5cm LFH16 located in front
of the Secaucus NJ VFW.
